The Zuralia Orchestra

The Zuralia Orchestra, founded in 2011, is a 12 piece group

comprised of experienced musicians, recognized locally and internationally. Under Aurel Mirea?s guidance, they created a new kind of music ? a fusion between Romanian folklore and traditional Gypsy music blended with Latino, Reggae, Oriental.

The members of the orchestra have previously participated, individually and as part of a group in music festivals, both in Romania and abroad. In 2012 they played in the opening concerts of Goran Bregovic in Romania and in 2013 they succeeded to reach the Semifinals of Eurovision National Contest. Also, 2013 meant concerts in Romania and abroad: Khamoro World Music Festival (Czech Republic), Grenzenlos festival (Germany), L?udia z rodu Romov Festival (Slovakia) and On!Fest (Bulgaria), just to mention a few. Their repertoire includes original songs as well as covers from well known Romanian and regional composers. The Zuralia Orchestra is known for its show and energy on stage.
Name significance
The name itself is a fusion of two words: "zoral?, a gypsy word,which means "strong? and "zurlie?, a Romanian word, which means "restless?. It illustrates a fusion of two cultures: Gypsy and Romanian, and also the purpose of the orchestra, of inducing joy, happiness and the wish to dance.

The orchestra aims to become locally and internationally renowned for their original fusion of many types of musical genres.
